We’ve had about 186 hits on the new site, so I can assume some of the family are beginning to stop by. Benita and Cheryl are still working on certain aspects of this year’s reunion, and we will continue to post updates right here, so keep checking back. I wanted to share a little about the features of this site, so hopefully you will all feel comfortable participating. This site is actually a blog. For those of you not familiar with a blog, it is short for:
web·log (wĕb‘lôg‘, -lŏg‘)
n.A website that displays in chronological order the postings by one or more individuals and usually has links to comments on specific postings.
Yes, a blog makes it easy for anyone to post information to a webpage in a journaling fashion. It also encourages people to participate by leaving comments. That’s where you all come in. You can post a comment on any page on this site, or you can post comments to these posts on the News page. See the link at the bottom? Only the latest post will appear on this page, but the earlier posts are listed at the bottom of the page. Do you see them? Just click the title to read the earlier posts. You can also click on the categories listed to the right to read posts that fall into those categories: news, sights, events, reunion06, features and more.
Did you notice the map in the lower right hand corner of the site? That is a map of our family. Add your location and name to the map so we can see where you hail from. You don’t have to use your exact address, just list a city and zip code to get the general area. It will be fun to see where we all live across the nation. You can also leave comments on the map. Have a look and give it a try.
I’ve also added a little music to the site in honor of this year’s theme: Motown Sound. The widget is in the upper right corner. I couldn’t find any Motown sounds, but I’ve got a collection of gospel and R&B lined up for you. I’ll try to change the sound every week or so. And there are photos from last year’s reunion in Arizona. Those are on the right. Just click on one of the photos to get to the whole collection. These are photos from myself, Otis and Marvin and they are on Flickr, so you can download them and print if you like.

Cheryl and Benita have begun planning an exciting family reunion in Detroit, MI for this year- 2007. The theme is: Motown Sound
They are planning an outing to the African American Museum as our featured event. We will still have a golf tournament, lunch/family meeting & a dinner/dance on Saturday night. More information is coming on these events, but if you’d like to check out information about the museum, click the museum tab.
We will be keeping you up-to-date once again via the family reunion website. As you can see, we have a brand new design and layout. I hope you like it. I wanted to use something easy so hopefully the family can learn to use it. Feel free to post messages and participate.
